C-name or subfolder?

PressPage supports 2 URL variations for the newsroom to reside on:

  1. Cname: news.company.com*, example: http://news.hackney.gov.uk/
  2. Subfolder: www.companyname.com/news, example: http://www.johnsonville.com/news

For the Cname set-up, simply refer the chosen Cname (i.e. news.companyname.com) to client.presspage.com.
This step should take no more than 5 minutes work. Please inform your PressPage contact once you have done this.

As an alternative to a Cname setup, a subfolder can be used by placing a special htaccess file which rewrites all URLs. This htaccess file will be provided by PressPage.

*) For the Cname, ’news’ can also be press, newsroom, or any other word.

How to set up a c-name?

  1. Have your IT department set-up a subdomain, i.e. newsroom.clientname.com or press.clientname.com or news.clientname.com.
  2. Redirect the subdomain to: client.presspage.com. We will then synchronise it on our end
  3. PressPage will then make sure the cname (= newsroom.clientname.com) is linked to the PressPage newsroom we have built for you.
  4. Make sure all "news" buttons link to the new subdomain.

IT involvement is only required for step 1, which  steps:

Step 1: takes about 2 minutes.
Step 4: takes about 10 minutes.
